چکیده

Methods Lesion size was independently quantified by 2 experienced observers in total of 120 consecutive CMRs obtained in 30 patients within the first 6 months after AMI using native and contrast-enhanced sequences. Lesion sizes were quantified using a threshold method (cutoff >2SD of remote normal myocardium) on basal, midventricular and apical short-axis left ventricular slices. Lesion size is given as the mean of both observers. Bland-Altman analysis was performed to determine the agreement between the two observers. Non-parametric Levene’s test was used to compare the variances of the relative differences. Statistical analysis was performed using GraphPad Prism 6.

How to measure myocardial infarct size by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging

In survivors of acute myocardial infarction (MI), the initial size of infarction is associated with long-term prognosis. This article addresses the role of contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in determining the presence and extent of MI. Contrast-enhanced CMR is widely accepted as the reference method for imaging infarct size. The principles involved in contrast-enhanced ...

Comparison of methods for DE-CMR infarct size quantification - reproducibility among three core labs

Background Infarct size measurements with delayed-enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DE-CMR) are being used as surrogate endpoints in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) trials comparing therapeutic strategies. Semiautomated techniques using signal intensity thresholding are thought to be more reproducible than manual planimetry to define AMI borders. For both methods, endo-/ epicardi...

Assessment of myocardial edema by computed tomography in myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to analyze whether cardiac computed tomography (CT) permits the assessment of myocardial edema in acute myocardial infarction (MI). BACKGROUND Several studies proved the value of detecting myocardial edema from T2-weighted cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for differentiating acute from chronic MI. Computed tomography is suited for depicting MI, but there a...

Detection and Quantification of Myocardial Scars using Contrast-Enhanced 3D-Echocardiography Running Title: Infarct size by 3D-Echo

Background Myocardial infarct scars are usually imaged using delayed-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (DE-cMR). In this study, we tested the hypothesis that the detection and the quantification of myocardial scars can be evaluated by 3D-Echo. Methods and Results Fifty patients with a healed myocardial infarction (>3 months) and 10 controls underwent 3D-Echo and DE-cMR within 2 weeks. 3D-Echo...

Assessment of myocardium at risk with contrast enhanced steady-state free precession cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance compared to single-photon emission computed tomography

BACKGROUND Final infarct size following coronary occlusion is determined by the duration of ischemia, the size of myocardium at risk (MaR) and reperfusion injury. The reference method for determining MaR, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) before reperfusion, is impractical in an acute setting. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether MaR can be determined from the c...
